Enough about you, a performance by Einat Amir
October 27, 2018
In recent years, the possibility to socialize has been simplified and changed dramatically thanks to all the media that provides numerous options to meet. Enough about you is a participatory performance that attempts to create a monitored lab where the audience, who is monitored and controlled, can observe and experience “authentic” encounters between two strangers, who are also controlled and guided through an experimental audio-conversation structure, created specifically for this piece. Curated by Mariateresa Setaro.

Video screening & artist talk
TRIAD is pleased to present a series of short video screenings by Israeli artist Einat Amir’s performances, including Enough About You, followed by a talk with the artist and panel discussion moderated by London-based curator Mariateresa Setaro and closing comments by Roberto Albergoni, General Director of Manifesta 12.
Amir’s performance is inspired by new possibilities of virtual socializing, alternative relationships platforms and instant intimacies offered by contemporary social media. In a world in which we can read stranger’s diaries and view their most private family albums, in a world in which we can formulate intimate opinions on people before we actually meet them, in a world in which we are exposed to the deepest emotional havocs of ordinary people in reality TV shows, Amir’s performance offers a lab-like situation in the midst of a busy art fair, where one can observe “authentic” moments of emotional encounters between two complete strangers, controlled and guided by a set of pre-recorded directions.
In recent years Amir’s work has revolved around the creation of artistic environments that are dedicated to the study of human behaviour and culture. Enough About You reveals the ways in which we encounter and relate to other people in the most constructed and manipulated circumstances, while the boundaries between performance and authenticity are completely blurred.
